A PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) Splitter is a Single Mode Splitter that has an even split ratio from a single input fiber to multiple output fibers. PLC Splitters are availble with 900µm loose tube singlemode fiber. Splitters that are not connectorized come without connectors for easy splicing or connectorization. Planar Lightwave Circuit is a more recent technology. For applications requiring larger split configurations, PLC splitters offer a better solution. It is achieved by fabricating waveguides using lithography on a silica glass substrate, which allows specific percentages of light to be routed. Therefore, PLC splitters offer very accurate and even splits with minimal loss.
